Notes

[edit | edit source]

Kanto was the first Pokémon region and introduced the first Pokédex seen in the games. Because of this, many Kantonian Pokémon are often considered among the most iconic in the series. Furthermore, due to being the earliest published Pokémon and having been created before the series was well known, all of the initial 151 pokémon have undergone some form of revision since their first introduction, as all of them had been later changed due to the special stat split as well as the introduction of mechanics such as abilities. Further changes have come in visual revisions, with some designs changing significantly over time.

Pokémon from the Kanto region are sometimes called Kantonian Pokémon, especially when referring to a specific regional variant.
