Making Telephonic Inquiries
[edit | edit source]In the last page you learnt how to make and answer phone calls. We turn to specific situations requiring telephonic conversation. For example, you may like to check up if the doctor is in his clinic or your business associate is in office before starting off to see either of them. This is how you do it.
- Sanjeev : Namaskar, is it Dr. Guru Dutt's clinic?
- Assistant : Yes sir.
- Sanjeev : Will Dr. Guru Dutt be available today?
- Assistant : Yes sir, he will be here at 4 pm.
And before you start for the railway station or the aerodrome don't forget to check up that your train or the flight is on time.
- Sanjeev : Namaskar, is it Railway inquiry?
- Receptionist : Yes sir.
- Sanjeev : Is Rajdhani Express leaving on right time?
- Receptionist : Yes sir, at ten minutes past seven.
Calling emergency services
[edit | edit source]When facing an emergency situation like fire or road accident, you may call up the fire service or ambulance. After confirming that you have reached the right emergency service, you tell them of the details of the emergency. Don't forget to tell the exact location so that the service finds the spot without any difficulty. Sample this conversation.
- Sanjeev : Hello, is it 108?
- Ambulance : Yes sir.
- Sanjeev : A car has met with an accident near canal bridge on Ropar Kurali road.
- Sanjeev : I hope there is no casualty.
- Sanjeev : No, two persons are seriously injured.
- Ambulance : We will reach in ten minutes.
